    LA is a non-profit organization that supports students ages six to eighteen in their expository writing skills, and helps teachers inspire their students to write. The center provides after-school tutoring, evening and weekend workshops, and assistance with student publications. The Mar Vista and Echo Park locations hold readings, writing panels, and fundraisers with well-known authors and. the book published by Mendez High School students through LA’s Young Authors’ Book Project, attempts to address, for if people are unaware of a major movement in history, a movement dedicated to bringing an end to segregation, to inequality and prejudice, to judging.

LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Books. Anthologies and zines of writing by LA students: Shirts.

LA invites classes to participate in completely free, writing-based field trips. Our field trips offer a fun and safe space for students to express their imaginations and practice their writing skills. (Photo courtesy of LA) A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of attending LA Mar Vista’s book release party for A Fireplace with a Cold Fire In It, a paperback filled with Denver-inspired vignettes, poems, and short stories—all written by kids who all deserve high-fives.
